JOB TITLE:  Stable Manager                                HOURS: FT, non-exempt

 

SUPERVISED BY:  Equestrian Center Director

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Education:  High School diploma or GED

·        Experience: Instructor certification through CHA, ARI, PATH or U.S. Pony Club Rating and 3 years experience teaching beginners to intermediates with 3 years experience with farm management.

 

SUMMARY:  Will support the Director in all operational and strategic functions of the Equestrian Center.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Must possess a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements of the insurance carrier.  Must have the ability to lift and transfer. This position requires the availability for flexible work schedules. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and the ability to speak and write proficiently in English is required. Supervisory skills are required.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.      Will schedule and oversee volunteers to complete feeding, stable chores and medical treatments daily.  Will complete tasks if there are no volunteers available.

2.      Will teach 7 – 8 classes weekly.

3.      Will work with the Director planning the schedule for the day.

4.      Will assist the Director and volunteer coordinator in coverage of volunteer orientation and volunteers for classes.

5.      Will be on call as needed in the absence of the Director.

6.      Will work with challenged volunteers.

7.      Will work as liaison with volunteers and visiting groups to convey the mission and operational aspects of the equestrian center.

8.      Will schedule and oversee the execution of daily, weekly, monthly stable chores per set chore charts.

9.      Will order feed, tack and supplies as needed. 

10. Will communicate all health, behavior and training issues concerning horses to the Director, staff and volunteers as needed.

11. Will schedule and oversee routine vet, farrier and dental visits.

12. Will assist in the maintenance of equine medical and training records.

13. Will revise pasture, feed and tack chart as needed.

14. Will prioritize, communicate and oversee maintenance issues to the Director and maintenance staff.

15. Will ensure that stable is clean and organized at all times.

16. Will successfully complete in-service requirements and meet renewal schedules.

17. Will perform other duties as assigned.
