The Mission of Dreams Go On is to provide therapeutic horseback riding sessions to adults and children who are physically challenged, receive mental health, behavioral health or family therapy services. Certified instructors and dedicated volunteers teach responsibility, trust, rules, patience, compassion, self-confidence, teamwork, and safety.

Therapeutic horseback riding brings remarkable benefits by 'stretching' both mind and muscles. For someone who can't walk, see, communicate, etc., riding a horse allows them to experience a new sense of freedom; they are transported to where dreams come true and spirits soar!

 

Job Description

Executive Director

 

 

We seek an individual with education, standards and professional certification in the field of equine assisted therapeutic activities to serve as an Executive Director with a minimum of 3 years experience in an executive leadership position.

 

Nonprofit executive experience is preferred.  The candidate must have superior interpersonal and communication skills and have demonstrated a proven track record in fundraising, grant writing, financial/accounting and fiduciary responsibilities as well as being able to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors and stakeholders in implementing a strategic plan.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring certified Instructors and Assistant Instructors and supervising the preparation and conducting of lessons with special needs clients, as well as supervision and scheduling of Instructors and Riders.  Candidate must be the eyes, ears and community spokesperson for the program. Candidate must be a Team player.

 

Position:  Executive Director

Classification:  Part-time/Full time

Hours:  Tuesday-Saturday, weekends and events as needed

Compensation:  As set by Board of Directors

Benefits: As set by the Board of Directors

Supervisory Control:  Board of Directors

 

This is a fixed term position lasting one year. Continuance of the position is dependent on available funding and grants secured.

 

  • Oversees all operations and provides direction to ensure growth and well being of the organization both financially (to include development and fundraising) and programmatically, working along with designated Board of Directors, Instructors, and Volunteers.

  • Attends all Board Meetings.  Engages in strategic planning and executes to planned objectives.  Adheres to all Board decisions and policies, ensuring effective Board and Staff communications. Keeps open lines of communication with Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons at all times.

  • Skill in dealing with people, diplomacy, tact, and discretion are required, plus exceptional skills in written and oral communication, creativity, ability to solve problems strategically, and demonstrated success in managing multiple projects.

  • Ensures the quality of the programs are maintained, improved and enhanced pursuant to the long term goals of the organization.

  • Computer literate, including expertise with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Networks with other agencies and organizations within the community, identifying partnerships and opportunities to work together.

  • Develops and implements plans for public relations and education to build awareness of the organization and its services. Ensures all media coverage of program activities.

  • Supervises Staff and Volunteers, periodic feedback, annual performance evaluations for Instructors/Assistant Instructors.

  • Provides strong leadership role in developing staff talents and expertise.  Focus on attracting and retaining a strong workforce and volunteer personnel.

  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is on file for Staff, Riders and Volunteers, while working with Committee Members and Officers.

  • Assists in preparing annual operating budget and operates within the constraints of the budget, in partnership with the Treasurer and Officers of the Board of Directors. 

  • Seeks ways to improve revenue stream by creatively identifying new opportunities to gain additional income.  Investigates all Grant options.  Critiques expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.

  • Works with the appropriate personnel to ensure that the safety and maintenance of the riding facility, inside and out, is prepared for all horseback riding activities.  Facilitate future planning of facility and equipment, in working with appropriate personnel.

  • Works with Instructors to ensure all horses are properly cared for and trained.  Works with designated personnel to ensure all horse and/or barn needs are channeled to appropriate personnel.

  • A valid driver’s license, and the ability and willingness to attend all program activities are necessary.

  • PA Child Abuse Clearance Forms and TB Test are also a requirement.

Ivy Hill is looking to fill the following staff positions:

Part time instructor: ($10 per hour with certification, $8 without certification)
Mondays from 1-8pm, Wednesdays from 3:30-7, Thursdays from 9-11.
New hours and new students on friday evenings from 4-8 and satrudays/sunday afternoons from 3-6.

Part time barn staff: ($7-8 per hour depending on experience)
Wednesdays from 3:30-6
Thrusday from 3:30-6

Days and times for both positions can be flexible. For instructor position you do not have to take all days and/or times. These are openings that are availabe or will be available.

 

Additional staff will be needed for summer camps. I am running one and possibly two weeks in June and two full weeks in August.

 STAR Equestrian Center is looking for the following:

 

STAR Equestrian Center will have teaching openings beginning in March for a registered NARHA Instructor. Teaching at a great center with staff support and indoor arena. Riders will range from child to adult, and various disabilities. Teaching hours will be determined closer to that time but are usually begin at 4:30pm and end at 8pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Please let me know if you know anyone who is interested. Could be a paid position if one person teaches enough hours or would be a good opportunity for an Instructor in Training or PACTH Phase II instructor to gain teaching hours for Phase III. Also, for those of you who may not have heard, we lost our friend Murphy Sunday to a tumor. He is sadly missed by staff, volunteers and riders.
